I took delivery of a used Better Light Scanning Back on August 8, 2025. I have wanted to play with one of these ever since I built my own scanner back with mixed results in 2007. These were and still are unique and offer very high resolutions in conjunction with their use with 4×5 large format cameras. Unfortunately they are not longer manufactured, but can be maintained by former Better Light staff members. My 50-70 year old Crown Graphic is now a digital camera. The scan back fits in where the sheet film holder would normally reside. What you don’t see is the small control box, computer, and cables that make it work. Definitely not a point and shoot!
